[News] [OpEd]

If you have never played Dungeon Siege, you are missing out.  Its a truly great RPG in the vein of games like Diablo.

Yes, Dungeon Siege would make a good movie.  And looking through the cast list, I give the screenwriter credit for sticking so closely to the source material.  For example, the main character, played in the film by Jason Statham, is named simply, "Farmer".  The plot also seems to stick to the game: "A man named Farmer sets out to rescue his kidnapped wife and avenge the death of his son -- two acts committed by the Krugs, a race of animal-warriors who are controlled by the evil Gallian." - imdb.com

In addition, there is star-power and eye candy in this film, but In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale has one major flaw: Uwe Boll is directing it.

Mr. Boll has directed a number of unmemorable B-movies, and most recently a string of videogame based films, including Alone in the Dark and BloodRayne.  My fear is that he will turn this hot property into more of the same crap.

Fans of Far Cry should start praying, too - pray that Uwe doesn't ruin that franchise as well, as Far Cry the movie version, set for a 2008 release, is currently filming.

And although I'm not sure that Ray Liotta was a good casting choice for his role, the movie does look good.  Then again, even Alone in the Dark looked good in a trailer.
