Remember I talked about Atari being in trouble and needing help and how I couldn't imagine that a name that well known was back in financial trouble? No? It was way back in September when I talked about it so it's not a surprise.

Well Infogrames has released some performance numbers on the beleaguered publisher and they look promising. Nice job gamers and Infogrames alike!

IMPROVEMENT AT ATARI INC Atari’s latest results, announced on November 9, 2006, reflected the positive impact of measures taken by the Group to restructure the subsidiary’s operations:

  • the company posted a net profit of $0.3 million for the second quarter, compared with a loss of $25.2 million the same period a year ago;
  • revenue for the first six months, under US GAAP, amounted to $48.1 million and the net loss was reduced to $6.8 million, from $58.0 million the previous year.

The difference between operating income and EBITDA for the period to September 30, 2006 reflects gains of $9.9 million from disposals of assets and restructuring charges of $0.3 million.

The company also announced on November 7 that it had obtained a three-year revolving credit facility of $15 million, which will enable it to finance further investment in development projects.
