[News] [PS3]

According to this article from dbTechno.com, Sony plans to slash the price of their PlayStation 3, all the way down to $299 (USD).  If true, the fire sale would begin a week from today, January 28th.  dbTechno.com sites SlickDeals.com as their "reliable source" for this story.

No telling if this if this is true, but assuming it is, it would make the PS3 the most inexpensive Blu-ray player on the market, putting it in direct competition with cheap HD-DVD players.  Could this be a ploy by Sony to bolster the charge of Blu-ray and increase disappointing sales of their console, or is it simple another rumor flying around the Internet?  Time will tell.

Not only the cheapest way to get a bluray player but just the cheapest way to get a ps3. This will be great for the gamer like me who only wants to play a few titles, wants a blu-ray player and wants to take advantage of the PS3's power with [email protected] Can we say "Tax Returns" on this deal?
