Flight Simulator X: Acceleration, the first expansion pack for Microsoft Flight Simulator X, is set for a fall release.  The pack includes a bunch of extras and enhanced DirectX 10 graphics (although DX10 is not required to run the FSX: Acceleration).

New aircraft, missions and play modes are some of the highlights of Acceleration.  Just to show off their latest offering, Microsoft released a gallery full of new screenshots.  A link to the gallery as well as the detail on the expansion pack are available after the break.

Multiplayer Racing Mode

• Allow gamers to compete against friends
• Four types of racing
  • Real-world and fictional Red Bull Air Race courses
  • Reno National Championship course
  • Cross country competition sailplane courses
  • Fictional courses like the Hoop and Jet Canyon course
• Gamers will be able to test their skills in three different levels of difficulty
• Simple pylon racing to racing very challenging courses in a variety of weather conditions

• Ranging from a fighter jet test pilot to search and rescue
