According to a report by the Associated Press, China's 100-day anti-piracy campaign has been quite successful. In a country that has been a haven for software pirates for years, the governments latest move comes as a surprise to some, which may explain its successes.

The campaign has closed over 480 publishers of the warez supplying nearly 9,000 shops and over 940 websites. "Almost 13 million units of pirated computer software, CDs, and DVDs have been destroyed".

This campaign comes after Chinese Vice Premier Wu Yi met with US officials last month, promising to try to fight piracy after years of turning a blind eye to the problem.
