If you’ve ever thought that third-person games were getting stale and tasteless, then today’s game news is just for you.  (Even if you didn’t think that, today’s news is still for you.)  Today, SouthPeak Games has announced a new game in the works that is intended to redefine the genre of third-person shooters.

X-Blades is their promise to deliver a rich environment of guns, blades, magic and “cinematic flair”.  Enter Ayumi, a sexy and vicious heroine who you will control to battle demons and explore the wonderful landscapes.  With pistol blades, acrobatic ability and magic spells the game is positioned to immerse you in a combination of cinematic, beautiful animation and high-speed game play.

“We are big fans of anime and that was really our inspiration for X-Blades,” said James Seaman, Topware Interactive's Managing Director.  “Our goal was to create stylistic characters and artwork and to mix that bombastic visual style with lightning fast action. The result is a killer title that gamers and animation fans won’t be able to put down.”

Expect X-Blades to be released on the Xbox 360, PS3, Wii and PC later this year.
