[PS3][X360]

Again, I love Sony. Most of the home electronics I have in my life have been Sony. I would love to own a

Playstation 2 and am considering a Playstation 3 (if I can fund one). But I just can't help one more dig today. Here is a great article on the number of units sold, developed games, and forthcoming for both present and next-gen consoles. It's an interesting read: very enlightening.

[PS3]

PlayStation 3 Portal has just reported that British software developer Kuju just announced they are developing a game for the PS3, tenatively titled "Redwood Falls." Apparently they presented a technology demo, but no actual game mechanics. I have to admit the idea of shooting off limbs is intriguing.

[PC]

Sierra announced they're releasing a multiplayer only version of F.E.A.R. the horror FPS called F.E.A.R. Combat for free download beginning 17 August. Now THAT'S what I call a marketing gimmick, give away the multiplayer version for free to generate new interest in a game that's almost a year old. According to the Gamespot article players will be able to connect with other users of the MP only version as well as those who own the full game. Well I think I'll be downloading that one next week then. It's nice to see a game company give away something. I'm sure some SPAM will result from the registration process for the keycode, but what's a little SPAM when you can shoot your friends half way across the planet? Tak cau!

[NDS] [PC] [X360] [PSP]  [PS2]

Sure I sort of blasted one of their games recently, but I respect a company that keeps working and working hard. Bethesda Softworks, makers of the Oblivion series is hard at work on not one, not two, but allegedly THREE new Star Trek games. Ambitious. The games will span the PC and Xbox360 (ST:Legacy), PSP and DS (ST:Tactical Assault) and the PS2 (ST:Encounters) and will pull material from all of the popular shows. I was reading the forums and they are claiming that Encounters is not a port of Legacy it is a completley seperate game. Only time will tell. So set phasers to stun and beam me up Scotty we're done here. Tak cau!

[PS3]

Backward compatibility is a beautiful thing: it's where the Xbox 360 really dropped the ball. It's also one of the feature Sony touted, especially after the aforementioned trip on the part of their rival. The interesting part of all this is T3 is now reporting that compatibility comes at a cost: an adaptor.

"To use saved data on a PlayStation 2 memory card, you must copy the data onto a virtual memory card within the hard disk. This requires a PS2/PSone memory card adaptor to copy the data." In other words, although your games will be compatible, you will need to start from the beginning if you don't also have the adaptor.

At an already hefty proposed cost, the purchase of an additional adaptor may be more that some gamerz can bare.

[Wii]

Far Cry, Blazing Angels: Squadrons of WWII, Monster 4x4 World Circuit, Open Season and GT Pro Series, Red Steel and Rayman: Raving Rabbids: the seven confirmed titles Ubisoft is bringing to the Nintendo Wii.

Now don't expect to see this info on their company website; as usual the corporate website admins are WAY behind. But you can read more about this story from Ferrago.com.
