XLEAGUE.TV, the UK’s first dedicated eSports entertainment television channel, has announced the launch titles that will feature in their leagues and tournaments. I have been keeping an eye on them as they have gained momentum and approach their launch date of May.

Offering the very best in competitive gaming online and on TV, XLEAGUE.TV will enable gamers to compete across the latest video game platforms, in a wide variety of genres – including racing, third-person shooters and real-time strategy. The announcement enables gamers to see what they can expect upon the online launch.

The complete list is as follows:

XBOX 360
1. Pro Evolution Soccer 6 (Published by Konami)
2. Rainbow Six: Vegas (Published by Ubisoft)
3. Project Gotham Racing 3 (Published by Microsoft)
4. Gears of War (Published by Microsoft)
5. Halo 2 (Published by Microsoft)
6. Dead or Alive 4 (Published by Microsoft)

7. Resistance: Fall of Man (Published by SCEA)
8. Motorstorm (Published by SCEA)

9. Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars (Published by EA)
10. Quake 4 (Published by Activision)

XLEAGUE.TV will record competitive matches, league and tournament play with game commentary, league analysis, news, reviews, updates and magazine format shows. All taken from our ongoing online leagues.

Hey look everyone, Gears of War made it into the tournament. What a surprise! (That was me being sarcastic.) Funny, I only see 3 platforms on the list, where is the PS2? Where is the Wii? Ok, so there aren't enough games that would fit the mold on the Wii yet, but where is the PS2? It seems to me that they have chosen on an "oohhh shiny!!" principle more than a balanced and diverse one.

The list feels a little FPS heavy and RTS light. No, it feels FPS heavy and everything else light. Where are the other sports games? Are those not made for head-to-head action? You can tell it is a U.K. company as the main sport title is Soccer.

Another thing I noticed is that their site offers game reviews, but none of the games reviewed are in the tournament. In fact, they reviewed FIFA 07 but are using Pro Evo 6. Not really important but it is something I noticed. The website is still somewhat sparse on information but I am sure that will soon change when it officially goes live next month. It is a pity I do not have any of the games on the list as I would like to try my hand in the competition.
