We are proud to announce that we will present Spencer Halpin's Moral Kombat documentary on the violence in videogames debate. It will screen both Saturday 27 October and Sunday 28 October 2007 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with Spencer Halpin being present Saturday at the It Came From Lake Michigan Film Festival. The full-length feature is the first documentary to be shot completely in high-definition and utilizes cutting edge special effects to make the documentary visually stunning. The documentary has been stirring interest and been labeled controversial after the trailer showed up on Youtube.

20.jpgSpencer Halpin’s: Moral Kombat is the single most important piece of commentary on the gaming industry ever.  I realize the weight of that statement, and I must assure you that I thought long and hard before putting that in print.  But it is true.

The film is a full-length documentary that examines the controversy surrounding violent videogames and the effect these games have on our society.  Moral Kombat is presented in such a well-balanced way, it even had me initially re-examining my own convictions.  Ultimately though, it helped me to re-affirm them.

I like giving gamers cool stuff. It makes my heart warm to see and hear from happy gamers and if you really knew me you would know that that is something special. So I really needed to post this quick message we received from Alison Richards (no relation to Reed Richards of the Fantastic Four we think) after notifying her that she won last month's Videogame to Film Adaptation contest from Generation: Gamerz and the ICFLM Film Festival.

At first when I read about this I thought it was cool but not cool enough to post about. Then I continued to read the whole thing and thought "Hell yeah, the gamers should know about this one." So here it is. Babel, an outsource company for game testing and localization (or localisation if your British) is looking for a hoarde of new Babelian, Babelites, Babelanians...they need more people so they are recruiting 150 new functionality and localisation testers for their facilities in Montreal and Brighton.

I always wanted to speak several languages and I do a fair job at a few, but I am just not qualified unless they want someone to spell check, fix the grammar and proof read the English. Then I'm their man. This is mostly aimed at people who speak another language natively. But it's still cool.
