[News] [Retro] [Wii]

I think Nintendo and Capcom have a little something going on: a relationship if you will.  As ridiculous as the idea may seem, consider this: Nintendo has released nearly every iteration in the Ghosts n' Goblins series  Today, North America is treated to the original NES version.

But the releases are not this week's big Virtual Console news story.  In fitting with the Christmas season, Nintendo has added a new "Gifting" function to the Virtual Console.

This new feature will allow gamers with a Wii to send Virtual Console titles games to another person with whom they have traded Friend Codes.  A particularly nice feature immediately informs the sender if the recipient has already purchased a particular title, allowing the sender to select a different title.

Pokémon Snap
N64 - 1 player - rated E - 1000 Points - HAL Laboratory - 1999

Todd Snap, a fledgling Pokémon photographer is summoned by Professor Oak to an unusual island in order to help him with a report. Oak needs quality pictures to accompany his scientific findings, and from past experience knows Todd is the right person for the job. Pokémon Island, which contains a variety of climatic and geographic regions, is a place where Pokémon live relatively undisturbed by humans. Using a motorized, amphibious buggy named the Zero-One, Todd explores the island and takes photographs of the wide variety of Pokémon that inhabit its environments.

Ghosts 'n Goblins
NES - 1 player - rated E - 500 Points - Capcom - 1985

Ghosts 'n Goblins is a platform game where the player controls a knight, named Arthur, who must defeat zombies, demons and other undead creatures in order to rescue a princess. Along the way the player can pick up new weapons, bonuses and extra suits of armor that can help in this task. The game is often considered very difficult by arcade standards and is commonly regarded as one of the most difficult games released for the NES.

The game does have a two-player feature, but in this mode play simply alternates between the two players.

Baseball Stars 2
NeoGeo CD - 1-2 players - rated E - 900 Points - Eikichi Kawasaki and team - 1993

Baseball Stars 2 is a 2-player baseball arcade game released by SNK in 1992 for the Neo-Geo console.  Not much else to say about this title.  It's an old baseball game no one wants - so why would Nintendo release this title?  No idea.

I did find this one interesting thing about this title.  To read about, go check out this link.
